To deliver/assist in delivering risk-informed engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. Successful candidates would be expected to be capable of performing some of the following specific accountabilities in the positions available:
- Participate in teams responsible for developing and maintaining integrated probabilistic safety assessments and reliability assessments for nuclear plants and other hazardous technologies or facilities.
- Perform risk and reliability analysis to evaluate the design and performance in terms of nuclear safety adequacy of complex systems under both normal operating and abnormal operating conditions (including accident conditions).
- Develop and use integrated Risk Monitors for evaluation of instantaneous risk for at-power and outage operating configurations, and assist in operational decision-making on nuclear safety and licensing issues.
- Provide risk assessment support to nuclear safety design and operation initiatives such as planned plant outages, design modifications, benefit-cost analysis, condition assessments, periodic safety reviews, Environmental Qualification (EQ), Safe Operating Envelope (SOE), fire protection, compliance with Regulatory Standards for NPP Reliability Programs, and licensing.
- Application of PSA techniques to improve station operation, such as optimization of planned outage frequency and duration, or testing and maintenance programs for safety related systems.
